CAREER SUMMARY

At only 23 years of age, Lebanese Abdo Feghali has established himself as Lebanon’s new generation top rally driver after only 3 seasons of rally experience.

Abdo began his motorsport-rallying career in 1998 by competing on his first event at the age of just 20. He developed his skills by practicing with Lebanese hill climb and rally champion for several years Jean-Pierre Nasrallah and team director. Success came quickly as Abdo finished third in both the “Ronde Hivernale” and Rally “du Printemps”.

For his first international event Rally of Lebanon he managed to finish in 4th place group N and retired at the Rally des Cèdres (gearbox problem) being in 2nd place with 4 seconds from the leader.

A fantastic first year with great success that saw him ends in 4th place at the Lebanese rally championship.

In 1999 he joined Joker Game Racing Team with the help of Jean-Pierre Nasrallah. He finished 3rd overall and 1st group N in the 1st round of the Lebanese Rally Championship Rally du Printemps. During the International Rally of Lebanon he was leading the group N but stopped after 2nd leg due to a mechanical failure.

In the Rally des Cèdres, Abdo performed fantastically as usual until the accelerator cable broke 3 km from the end of the last special stage. This incident has cost him all the precious lead he had and consequently his 3rd overall position at the finish line.

During the Ronde Hivernale Rally, Abdo scores as usual a great performance where he finished in 5th position overall and 1st F2 group N.

Year 2000 brings new challenges to Abdo when he switched to Mitsubishi camp with a group N Lancer Evolution 5. From the start of rally, Abdo, who proved several times that he is a potential winner, made his first move and scores 2 best times out of six against his rival Lebanese rally champion Roger Feghali.

As things were heating up, the car’s suspension did not prove to be adequately tuned to Abdo’s driving style. This has reflected on his time in the longest 2 special stages of the rally and deprived him of the victory. After stage 5 he decided to take things easy as second place and 1st group N were secure. For the Rallye du Printemps Marc joined again the right seat next to Abdo. A tire puncture in the 2nd special stage and an unpredictable weather made tire choice very difficult forced him to finish 2nd overall and 1st group N.

The Rally of Lebanon is Round 5 of the Middle East Rally Championship. This is the event that will put Abdo in face of internationally renowned rally drivers. From the start of the rally, Abdo will record times faster than M. Stohl (Group N World Champion 2000) and Yves Loubet (European champion, French champion). The last special stage will force him to finish the rally with only the 3rd gear working. This mechanical problem did not prevent him from finishing the rally in 2nd place overall and winner of the group N. This will be his third 2nd position and group N winner for the year 2000.

.

For the Rallye des cedres the last event in the national championship, Abdo will take a step further into rallying. In order to have a chance to win the championship he will enter in a group A car. As usual, Abdo began from the 2nd special stage to score best times stage after stage up to special stage 6 when the front tire of his car exploded suddenly and caused the car to go out of the road and ended his quest for the championship. During this short battle, Abdo has scored record times for three special stages.

Nevertheless, Abdo closes the 2000 season as Group N CHAMPION and 3rd overall in the Lebanese Rally Championship.
